Puerto Rico

Thats right... Aaron and I leave on Friday for a 5 day trip to Puerto Rico. We have Showtime to thank for this wonderful trip. I can't wait to get to the beach and enjoy the 82* weather. I will post pictures and let everyone know how the trip was when we get back.

15 Weeks

This is day number 105 and I'm 15 weeks pregnant!
I have 175 days or 25 weeks left, and I am 37.5% of the way there.

The baby weighs about 1.75 ounces and is about 4 to 4.5 inches in length. It's heart is growing strong and, even though it is little, it is pumping between 20 and 25 quarts of blood every 24 hours. By the time I am ready to deliver, my baby's heart will be circulating up to 300 quarts of blood every 24 hours. Although it's eyelids are still fused shut, it can sense light. There's not much for the baby to taste at this point, but it is forming taste buds. Finally, if I had an ultrasound this week, I might be able to find out whether it's baby's a boy or a girl!

I have to wait 4 weeks until I have an ultra sound. We will all hope that when I go the baby's legs are not crossed so we can find out what I am having.

Ultra Sound Pictures

I finale got the scanner to work and have scanned in the picture for the last ultra sound which was at 12 1/2 weeks. You can click on the picture and go to flickr to view a larger copy if you would like.

14 Weeks

This is day number 98 and I am 14 weeks pregnant!
I have 182 days or 26 weeks left, and I am 35.0% of the way there.

Welcome to the second trimester!

This week's big developments:
The baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck it's thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, it's facial muscles are getting a workout as it's tiny features form one expression after another. It's kidneys are producing urine, which it releases into the amniotic fluid around it — a process it keep up until birth.

In other news:
The baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, it measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and it weighs 1 1/2 ounces. It's body's growing faster than it's head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, it's arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of it's body. (it's legs still have some lengthening to do.) It's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over it's body. The baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and it's spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though I can't feel it's tiny punches and kicks yet, the little ones hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.
